Burial Benefit

The Plan provides a Burial Benefit, for which you become eligible for as soon as your application for a retirement benefit is approved by the Trustees. Your application must be submitted, and approved, as of the date of your death in order for you to be eligible for the Burial Benefit. The Burial Benefit is paid upon your death to the person whom the Trustees determine is responsible for your funeral expenses.

If you die on or after October 1, 1998, the Burial Benefit is the greater of $1,000, or one monthly benefit payment (at your original Straight Life Annuity Benefit level).

Examples

Assume that you retired with the monthly Straight Life Annuity Benefit (without a Survivor Option) of $750. Upon your death on or after October 1, 1998, the person responsible for the payment of your funeral expenses will be paid the Burial Benefit of $1,000.

Assume that you retired with the monthly benefit of $2,624.49, with the Joint and 100% Survivor Option (Straight Life Annuity Benefit level of $3,000). Upon your death on or after October 1, 1998, the person responsible for the payment of your funeral expenses will be paid the Burial Benefit of $3,000.
